Braintree District Local Compact

Braintree District Local Compact (BDLC)  Revised and relaunched 14/09/11

We want to ensure that the Compact way of working is part of all sectors of our community and that the Voluntary and Community sector (VCS) are able to make an impact on the decision making of the Braintree District.

If we work together we can:

  • Improve our relationship with funders and work towards long term funding.
  • Ensure that statutory organisations consult with the VCS and provide us with realistic timescales
  • Improve the status of volunteering and ensure that volunteers are valued no matter where they volunteer
  • Ensure that all Voluntary & Community Groups no matter how large or small are taken into account in important decision.

WE CAN ACHIEVE THIS THROUGH THE BRAINTREE DISTRICT LOCAL COMPACT

The Braintree District Local Compact has now been revised in line with the new National Compact. The Compact and associated codes have been simplified and the document and codes can be viewed below.

Since its inauguration all voluntary, community and statutory organisations have been encouraged to join the Compact and sign up to it individually.

Existing signatories will be asked to comply with this revised Compact and continue to be recognised as a signatory unless they request otherwise.

If you feel that you have a disagreement with an organisation then check out the BDLC Resolution Disagreements Code of Practice below

Our Compact is a fundamental document and process for monitoring and evaluating the quality of relationships, partnerships and joint working.
By joining the Compact as a signatory you are helping to strengthen partnership working in this district and encourage better working relationships between the statutory and voluntary organisations.

Working as part of the Braintree District Third Sector Partnership

Through the 3rd Sector Partnership board the Braintree District Compact has had an article publicised on the National Compact Voice website.  'Braintree: Using the Compact to guide the transferring of services'.  It describes the process of transferring the Health Walks from Braintree District Council to BDVSA.  Please go to http://www.compactvoice.org.uk/sites/default/files/compact_at_work_-_braintree.pdf
