Some of Your Questions Answered:
Q. How much time do I have to give?
A. This is entirely up to you. It is important not to over commit yourself in the first instance. It is easier to offer a little more rather than reduce your commitment.
Q. Would being a volunteer affect any rights to benefits?
A. Volunteering and/or reimbursement for actual expenses should not affect your benefits. Please check with the local Benefits Agency for information.
Q. What about insurance?
A. Volunteers should be adequately protected against any risks. Do not hesitate to ask about your position regarding insurance cover.
Q. Do I need qualifications?
A. Usually you don't. Some very skilled work may demand qualifications and usually organisations offer training to enable you to do the work.
